On today’s episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman talk with Jozimar Matimano. Jozimar is an artist who was born in the East Democratic Republic of Congo. He moved to Uganda when he was ten, and then in 2016, he moved to Manchester, New Hampshire as a refugee through the International Institute of New England program. He has been interested in drawing and illustration since childhood, but it wasn’t until more recently that he decided to pursue art and began taking lessons at the Currier Museum of Art. Jozimar began attending the Institute of Art at New England College in 2019, and is currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in fine art. His primary focus is oil paintings, where he expresses his view of what is happening in society.
